Thoughts on Gmail and Remember the Milk

I’ve been fiddling around with Remember the Milk and Gmail, along with the RTM for GMail Firefox Extension and I had some ideas that might be good fodder for either enhancements to the extension, or Greasemonkey script(s).

Improvements to the RTM for GMail Firefox Extension

  • Sync changes to Starred items with RTM - So if I star an item in Gmail Mobile, the next time I load Gmail in Firefox, it should check the starred items and update my RTM list
  • Link the Gmail message URL to the URL field for the task in RTM
  • Tag-enable the Firefox extension - Allow the user to specify some sort of tag for RTM tasks that are created from Gmail in order to facilitate filtering (i.e. star, Gmailstar, etc)
  • Sync Drafts folder with RTM - I will start writing an email, but might come back to it later in order to finish, and if I have it in my RTM list, it is that much more likely to get done

Possible Gmail improvement or Greasemonkey script

  • Starred message count - Show a count of the number of Starred messages (like unread messages in other folders), otherwise you have to check the folder to see if/how many messages are there.
