Reading
I have been interested in some form of blogging for almost as long as I have been on the Internet. I remember keeping a little journal online in junior high school, just doing it off and on, most of that writing happening in little spurts for the last 10+ years. In the last year or two, I have developed a great interest in reading blogs online, something that I never really did when I was younger - other than my schoolmates’ tell-all diaries, but nowadays I read a great deal online on a daily hourly basis. My interest in different subjects has ebbed and flowed, but most of what I read falls into one of these categories:
- Foodie
- Lifehacking/Personal Development
- Music
- Austin
- Personal Finance
- High-tech
- Linux & Windows
Right now my goal is contribute something to all of these areas with this blog, rather than sticking to one subject area or another.
Personal Development
As an engineering student, I tend to spend most of my time up to my eyeballs in schoolwork, but I want to break out of that rut. I want to use this blog as a way to get myself “out there” and put myself on the map, online. Another part of being an engineer (in training) is that while our technical skills are pretty good, our writing skills are lacking; I hope to remedy that here, by writing as much as possible, improving the quality of my writing.
A Little Bit More About Me
I am a native Texan, just finishing up my third year of my college education. I started it at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY, but I left after two years and returned to Texas to work (as a co-op) at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and then continue my undergraduate program at The University of Texas at Austin (UT). At UT, I am studying in the College of Engineering in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department as a Computer Engineer, where my plan is finish up in May 2009.
Over time, I think that I will continue to write about my interests, sharing interesting places that I have visited on the net, and whatever else strikes my fancy.
